Birthday Season

Chapter 25

I am so grateful for 25 years of life; I don’t even know what to say. However, I do know what year 24 has taught me, my feelings about turning 25, and how to make your birthday fab-u-lous.

Lessons from 24

  • Some people are not meant to be in your life forever

I unfortunately had to learn this lesson the difficult way, but I’m glad I did. Not every friendship or relationship is supposed to last the long haul. Sometimes, people accompany you for a season to teach you something or love you through a hard chapter of life. That doesn’t deem the relationship unsuccessful; it means the relationship and chapter have served their purpose.

  • 9-5 ≠ Success

Success is not specific to one path of life. A traditional 9-5 is not the only way to success. I’m so glad I was able to get this through my thick skull or else ByMadison wouldn’t be here, and I would be stuck in someone's law office!

Success to me means finding your passions and creating ways to feed your passion daily. THAT is what excites me. Not a dusty office with no sunlight.

  • Waiting ... For WHAT?!

One random afternoon I decided to start watching Tracee Ellis Ross’s show Solo Travelling. When I tell you my life has truly changed for the better. I am just so enamoured by the way Tracee approaches her life through gratitude and joy.

Tracee introduced me to a lot of different life philosophies, but what stuck with me most is that you can be grateful for where you are now but still want more for yourself. You don’t have to wait for where you want to be in order to start living your life.

Living at home, I am truly grateful for my parents and that I have a home to come back to. I also know that I want my own space, and that’s okay. I’m not going to wait until I get my own space to start doing the things I would do when that happens. Hosting parties, going out, and living my best life in my 20s waits for NOTHING.

The Birthday Vibe

Sparkles, Martinis, and FUN.

All I want to do for my birthday is PAR-TAY! I’m ready to let loose and take D.C. by storm. I definitely want all things sparkles and all things fun. Do I want a crown or a party hat?? So many decisions. What I do know for sure is that the drinks will be flowing and my frontal lobe will finally be fully developed. Here’s to 25.

How to have a Fab-u-lous birthday

Do what YOU want to do. That’s all there is to it, no more, no less.
